Event Details
The Studios of Cocoa Beach announces the featured artist for the month of January, Tony Sasso. Tony is a long-time Cocoa Beach resident who has been involved in public service as a Representative in the Florida Legislature and as a City Commissioner. He is currently the executive director of Keep Brevard Beautiful.
Over the years, Tony enjoyed creating art for his family and as a creative outlet. With no formal art education, Tony creates “outsider art” inspired by Robert Rauschenberg and others. He depicts the world around him, everything from monkeys to surfing, cars to people. He began showing his art in 2015, and his work has been on view at various locations in Cocoa Beach and Key West. In 2016 Tony was instrumental in creating the Studios of Cocoa Beach, a non-profit cooperative art gallery where he serves as executive director.
“ I produce art just because I love doing it. I love being in the company of other artists and learning about them and their processes. Art is one of the most important aspects of my life and, in my view, all our lives.”
One of Tony’s art works “Ron Stoner” will be the prize in the Studios’ monthly giveaway. To enter this free drawing, visit the Studios any day in January
Tony’s work can be seen daily at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. The non-profit gallery features the work of 30 local artists and offers a full schedule of workshops in a variety of techniques for both adults and children. The Studios is open Monday and Tuesday 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information about exhibits, artists and workshop schedules, call the Studios at 321-613-3480 or visit www.studiosofcocoabeach.org.
