My teaching has always been based on a belief that education should be child centered rather than focus on the teacher or the content area. The content of the curriculum ought to be derived from students and interests rather than from the academic disciplines. I believe that teaching takes into account the whole child and his or her interests and needs in relationship and learning style. I also believe that learning is essentially active rather than passive I serve as a guide or resource person whose primary responsibility is to facilitate my student's learning. As a teacher, I can help my children learn what isn't working. To them, rather than passing on a set of so-called enduring truths. I believe, children learn best through hands on activities that address the needs of the whole child. In addition, my teaching style reflects the belief that children need a balance of child initiated and teacher facilitated activities each day.
