Description
Charitable organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Indian River Lagoon. Located at the Ted Moorhead Lagoon House in Palm Bay, FL, MRC conducts educational programs and engages the community in restoration, citizen science and advocacy. Through the "American Assembly" community engagement process, MRC successfully passed the Indian River Lagoon Act and established the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program. In 1991, MRC received President George H.W. Bush Environmental and Conservation Challenge Award for the leading edge LagoonWatch citizen water quality monitoring program, which is still going on today.
