Cocoa’s Drinking Water System
The Water System processes approximately 8.2 billion gallons of water each year with peak flows reaching 27.1 mgd (million gallons per day) during the summer. The average daily flow has increased from 22 mgd in 1990 to more than 22.7 mgd in 2012. In the last decade, the number of customers (meters connected to the water system) increased from 48,500 in 1990 to more than 80,000 in 2012.

If you have ever wondered how drinking water is treated and gets to your house, or what makes tap water safe to drink, or why we have boil water notices every once in a while, THEN you should join us in this tour!
Get answers to those questions, learn all about our drinking treatment, and take away a few tips to help conserve some water at home, too!
We will meet at the Cocoa Utilities Dept. to get checked in and then follow staff in a short drive to the water plant location.
Suitable for ages 12+. Children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
ALL ADULTS must provide a copy of your photo ID two days before the tour for your participation to be confirmed. Email a copy of your ID (PDF or image file) to ddowns@cocoafl.org or fax it to (321) 433-8708.
IMPORTANT! A group of at least 10 people is needed for this tour. The tour will be automatically cancelled if we do not have at least 10 registered participants two days before the scheduled date.
