Description
Did you know that the liquid and bar "soap" you buy at the store is not really soap at all? It's actually a puddle of chemicals and detergents that strip your skin of its natural oils. REAL soap is a chemical reaction between lye and oils called saponification:
Lye + Oil = fatty acid salts (soap) and glycerin
Using real handmade soap will put your skin's ph back in balance again...by actually moisturizing and gently cleansing. When your skin is stripped of it's natural oils, it in turn starts mass-producing more (which is why you feel greasy by the end of the day!). The way to take care of your skin (especially if you have blemish-prone skin) is with soap made of skin-loving oils such as olive oil, almond oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, sustainable palm oil, shea butter, mango butter...the list goes on! You'll put your skin back in balance again and you'll feel silky smooth.
Most of my soaps contain all-natural essential oils, which have their own beneficial properties. Lavender is known for it's calming and soothing affect on the mind, tea tree is naturally anti-inflammatory (great for blemishes!), cedarwood and basil are anti-fungal and invigorating, coffee is deodorizing, orange and ginger are energizing. That's only a few examples, because the list goes on and on.
I also add goat's milk to many of my soaps, which is known for its naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acids (cleans away the dead skin cells). Goat's milk is also high in essential fatty acids
